Mason
Today has been really fun for the kids! Their cousin Mason came over to play. Now that school is out, it makes it easier to have a playdate. Mason is the same age as Tyler. Tyler, Mason and Abby play well together. They always get excited to see eachother too! They were cute playing, hide and seek, monster, they water painted, build a fort out of my sheets and cushions(we used to do that when I was a kid), built battle grounds with blocks, watched some cartoons and took a ride in the van. Mason likes our van. He says because it has so many seats - I laughed! Too cute! You can tell they are all getting a little older and transitioning into 'school aged kids' --boy do they have the best imaginations!!!:)
So, I like to blog because this is journaling and I forget it sometimes, but then reminded and someday I can take all of these posts and put it in a book for my children and their children to reflect and read upon. (even the pics):)
Well, anywho, while the children were playing and I was doing the dishes and cleaning out a cupboard, I was listening to their noises, talking and playing.. It reminded me of my 'play' years. Alot of it is pushed somewhere in the back of my brain 'per se', but the kids helped some of the memories to come back. I was a pretty happy child and my parents provided a good childhood full of fun, love, safety and hard work. These are such great principles to carry with you always! I was able to be a kid and just that most of my growing up years (in the elementary years anyhow).. If there was anything going of adult nature like bills, jobs, worries, I didn't know about it much. What a gift - I think that my parents wanted to protect me and let me have my innocence as a kid. I played and played with my brothers and sisters, cousins and school friends.
Another thought, even with the modern toys and gadgets the kids seems to use their imaginations and play like I did using whatever is in their path to create a new world for them like a 'pirate ship' or 'a fort in the woods'! Who needs actual toys for kids--hee.. hee.. just kidding! They do play with their toys, but often not for the purpose of the toy itself.
It was nice looking back and I hope I can create a similar childhood for my kids. Of course different too because they are all so unique and I have my own family! :)
